Donating to the Library

Donating Materials to the Library

The Provo City Library will gladly accept your book and media donations.

  • Please no magazines
  • Please no VHS tapes or audio cassette tapes
  • Please no textbooks
  • The Library will accept puzzles in good condition
  • The Library will accept board games in good condition
  • The Library will accept video games rated E-T in good condition for any video game system

Drop off your donations at:

  • The First Floor Reference Desk
  • The donation box located near the Used Book Store on the First Floor
  • The Circulation Desk
  • For large donations, Library staff can meet you in the parking lot with a dolly.  Park on the north side of the underground parking lot and call 801-852-6661 to get a librarian's help.

Books should be in acceptable physical condition:

  • No mold
  • No colored or marked-up pages
  • No missing pages

The Library does not guarantee that donated items will be added to the Library collection.  Items not added to the Library collection will be offered for sale during one of our book sales or discarded.

Making Monetary Donations to the Library

The Provo City Library gratefully accepts monetary donations.  Your generous donation will be used to improve the quality of life of everyone in our community by helping to fund programs, services, and collections.

You may donate online with a credit card, drop off cash donations at any service desk, or mail a check to:

Donating with a Purpose

If you have a particular way you would like your donation to be used, please let us know.  Here are some ways you could request your contribution be spent.

Memorial Gifts

The Provo City Library invitres you to honor an event, an achievement, or the memory of someone special.  You may give monetary donations for the collection, and the library staff will work with you to select appropriate titles to both honor someone and meet th elibrary's collection needs.  Proper acknowledegement will be sent, and a book plate will be displayed in the titles selected.

Planned Gifts and Bequests

When planning your estate, consider leavinga gift in your will or living trust for the nonprofit and charitable organizations (like the Provo City Library) that made a difference in your life.  There are a variety of ways you can make a charitibale planned gift.  Your estate attorney, accountant, or other financial advisor can provide you with more details on the types of gifts and the tangible benefits they offer.  Imagine the positive impact on our community if everyone made a donation to a favorite nonprofit organization.
